Araglin is a small village in the western part of County Waterford, where three counties meet: County Waterford, County Tipperary and County Cork. This is mostly a rural area where livestock dot the land. Referred to in Irish as An Airglinn, the Araglin Valley is a settlement dating to the Early Bronze Age. The area, which is of national and international importance, contains a vast number of archaeological antiquities. The Araglin River forms part of the boundary of counties Waterford and Tipperary and its upland catchment is a segment of the southern slopes of the Knockmealdown Mountains. There is a hidden falls, that is extremely difficult to find, but spectacular to view. It was this quiet magical place that inspired the late, great Jim OLeary, Master Cutter and Design Director, to create the Araglin pattern in 1986, which for many years was our second pattern behind Lismore.
