Getting the right length
When shopping for shorts, you’ll need to make sure that they fit around your waist and cut off at a point that looks flattering on your legs. To make life easier, many shorts brands will give you the inseam length (inner leg seam measurement) which you can use as a guide.
If you have confidence in your thighs, a short 5” inseam will show off your legs while helping to keep you cool. Denim shorts with a 5” inseam are also perfect for guys who are on the shorter side.
The most common inseam length for men’s denim shorts is 7”. On men of average height, this length tends to fall just above the knee. However, on tall guys a 7” inseam can still look a little too short. If you’re of taller stature, denim shorts with a 9-11” inseam might be more suitable.
