La Cautiva (The captive) is a famous Argentinian poem written by Esteban Echeverra and published in 1837. The epic poem describes a group of natives attacking a white population and kidnapping Mara and her husband called Brian. During the Natives great victory feast, Mara and her injured husband achieved to escape to the desert. But Brian could not survive to the many obstacles they had to go threw. Mara buried her husband and follow her path hoping to find her son. When she find out her son had been beheaded bysavages, Mara died of sadness
