We all understand the importance of a good skin care routine, especially as we grow older. Most of us are great at sticking to a morning ritual, but struggle when it comes to prepping our skin for the night. A consistent nightly routine is crucial as this is when your skin is given chance to rest, repair and target key problem areas.

But don’t stress. This doesn’t have to be an overwhelming process, or take up the majority of your evening. Our guide will break down each step and ensure your skin looks and feels it’s very best.

Step 1: Cleanse

Before you sleep, it’s important your skin is entirely clean and clear of any makeup, oil and dirt. This is key as your next steps won’t work efficiently if your skin isn’t correctly cleaned. Discover our range of facial cleansers to clear, smooth and hydrate the skin, without stripping any of its natural oils.

For those who prefer a deeper clean, try double cleansing using an oil based cleanser followed by a water based cleanser. Oil based cleansers are great to use even if you suffer with oily skin, as they’re the most effective in dissolving oil and removing dirt.  

For an even deeper cleanse, try using a cleansing tool from the FOREO range, designed for those with sensitive, normal and combination skin. Then if needed, follow up with an exfoliator 1-2 times a week. This will help to remove dead skin cells and allow your products to absorb and work more efficiently.

Step 2: Tone

The next step in your nightly routine is to tone. This step is important for balancing your PH and moisture levels whilst keeping your skin hydrated. Toners also help to shrink your pores and provide a barrier against any environmental damage.   

Over time toners have dramatically improved and no longer contain high amounts of alcohol or strip the skin. With a wide range available targeted at different skin types and concerns, choose the toner that works best for you.

Step 3: Treatment and Serum

Now is the time to target any problem areas you may have. Whether you suffer with dry or acne prone skin, fine lines and wrinkles, or you’re just in need of an uplift, treatments and serums are formulated to help.

These products deliver a high concentration of ingredients designed to target specific skin concerns, preventing any long term damage to the skin. Serums and treatments can also give the skin a firmer, smoother texture and decrease the appearance of pores.

Step 4: Eye Cream

Using an eye cream is another crucial step in your nightly routine. The skin in these areas cry out for extra attention, as they’re the thinnest, most delicate areas of your face.
