Magimix 4200XL Food Processor

The motor and blades are excellent and top quality, and I think that is what draws people to the Magimix, as well as its good name and the fact that it is made in France. It certainly purees quickly and well, although chopping is a little more hit and miss. However, there are some drawbacks, and these mainly concern the design and engineering of the bowls. Fitting and locking the bowls on the base and the top elements on the bowls can be tricky, especially if you have small hands and/or a touch or more of arthritis. You also can't use the small bowl by itself; it has to be positioned in the larger bowl, which is cumbersome, and this usually involves having to wash both because of food splatter. The bowls take up a lot of room in the dishwasher and tend to collect puddles of water in their bases. I have a better-designed Bosch mini processor, and this has tiny holes for the water to run out. My advice is to spend some time looking over a display model, including attaching the bowls and tops and lifting it to see how heavy it is for you before you invest.
