Following the 1929 launch success of the original Black Tulip, in 1933 Atkinsons London launched Black Tulip, a deluxe edition with a fragrance as enigmatic and elusive as the midnight hour.
Its essence, hovering between reality and illusion, was inspired by the bewitching flower in Shakespeares A Midsummer Nights Dream Parfum, the classic story of enchantment, desire and the blurred lines between dreams and real life.
A contemporary interpretation of the 1933 Luxury Edition, the 2025 iteration simmers with the sensuality and mystique of the witching hour, that elusive moment as night turns to a new day.
The fragrance is presented in an exquisite matt black flacon featuring a gold leaf layer hand decorated by Florentine artisans. The original Luxury Edition label is reinterpreted in an elegant contemporary key, with the black tulip taking pride of place on a turquoise-lacquered medallion with gold-coloured details.
