Vue Navy Satin Mina Mina Dreaming Jukurrpa Quilt Cover

Experience the artisanal Indigenous works of the Warlukurlangu Artists of Australia in collaboration with Vue. This organic cotton percale quilt cover set features the beautiful handcrafted artwork of Patrick Japangardi Williams.

Patrick Japangardi Williams

Patrick Japangardi Williams was born in Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community 290km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. He grew up in Yuendumu and attended Yirara College, an Aboriginal boarding college in Alice Springs. He currently lives in Nyirripi with his wife and two children. He began painting for Warlukurlangu Artist in 2012 and paints his grandfathers Ngapa Jukurrpa (Water Dreaming) and his fathers Mina Mina Jukurrpa (Mina Mina Dreaming).

Mina Mina Jukurrpa (Mina Mina Dreaming) Janyinki

This painting depicts Jukurrpa (Dreaming) from Mina Mina, a very important womens Dreaming site far to the west of Yuendumu near Lake Mackay and the WA border. The kirda (owners) of this Dreaming are Napangardi/Napanangka women and Japangardi/Japanangka men; the area is sacred to Napangardi and Napanangka women. In the Dreamtime, ancestral women danced at Mina Mina and karlangu (digging sticks) rose up out of the ground. The women collected the digging sticks and then travelled on to the east, dancing, digging for bush tucker, collecting ngalyipi (snake vine [Tinospora smilacina]), and creating many places as they went.

Set includes 1 quilt cover and 2 pillow cases.

Vue is exclusive to MYER.
