I've been using this ever since. The design, sounds, volume, bass are alright. Main reason why it's not a 5 stars as I feel there are 2 things that could be better: 1. The "Boxy" Sound: Sound around 300-400 Hz range sound a bit "boxy" or "cupped" (like speaking into a cardboard box). From what I find, this isn't a fault of this speaker itself but it's the design of portable Bluetooth speakers. Manufacturers intentionally boost the Low-Mids (250 Hz – 500 Hz) to give the speaker sound a bit bigger. So it resulted into that a bit strange sound in that range. I ended up using EQ to lower that range to help ease this off. This could still affect the overall experience a bit but it's not that much. 2. Auto shut off if not used after an hour: while this is a smart feature and can be good for saving battery, it can't be turned off so I sometimes have to go and manually turn the speaker on again. Apart from those 2 minor things, its overall performance are solid. There are options to adjust the volume, Treble, Bass directly on the speaker or through EQ via the app, which are nice.

I didn’t buy the Stockwell III for specs or loudness, although those things matter. I bought it because I’ve been missing the ritual of music that has quietly slipped away over the years. I’m 51 now. Old enough to remember when listening to music was an intentional experience. But somewhere along the line music got buried in a phone, the same device that sends me alerts and notifications all day. The music was there, but the experience wasn’t. I missed choosing an album with intention and listening without distraction. I didn’t necessarily want to go back to physical media. I enjoy the convenience of digital, but I did want to give music its own place again. So I bought a DAP, which brought back that intentional aspect to music. Next step was a speaker. I wanted something tactile, something with presence, something that was not just an output device, but part of the immersion ritual. And then I found the Stockwell III. I wanted real knobs I could turn by feel. I wanted to adjust volume and tone without unlocking a screen or opening an app. I wanted a speaker I could pick up and carry from room to room without it dominating the space. I wanted something that felt like the old days without losing the convenience of today’s tech. The Stockwell III delivers that. The size is perfect. It’s small enough to sit on a shelf beside me, and robust enough to fill the room with warm, clear sound. It’s charming and beautifully made, makes you want to reach out and touch it. And the sound; warm, clear and present in a way I would need a proper stereo to top. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. The Stockwell III has character, charm, and a sound that feels alive. It’s a perfect fit for my life, and I expect it’ll be with me for many years.
