Short in the hemline but long in the shoulders

The dress is very pretty and the fabric is high quality; however, the shoulders on mine had a two inch gap which made the sleeves hang down. I had it altered and now I really like the dress. I should note that I am quite petite (5β 1β) but the length of the dress fit me well.
