Artwork Story:
On smoothed-out rocks we crush the Ochre and dye the sedge with colours from the Earth, we gather berries and crush them to soak the dried grasses, creating the beautiful shades of wildflowers. Once the dyeing work is done, we sit and weave them together to create baskets and use it to carry and gather the seeds.
About the Artist:
Emma Stenhouse is a proud Ngarrindjeri woman and a contemporary indigenous artist. Emma is exploring her culture through her arts practice and is inspired, supported and guided by strong female role models in her community.
