The filter indicator on my Samsung fridge (SRF7500BB) turned red, so I ordered this genuine Samsung HAF-QIN/EXP replacement cartridge. Installation was straightforward and, so far, the cartridge has been working as expected with no leaks or issues. My only concern is around recycling the old filter. I wanted to dispose of it responsibly, but I couldn't find any instructions on the cartridge itself about what to do with the used filter. I even visited Samsung's sustainability section, "Re-creation, not disposal," looking for guidance on recycling fridge water filter cartridges, but I couldn't find any specific information. I'd like to think there is a recycling or take-back program in place, but if there is, it's not easy to find. Clear recycling instructions would make the overall ownership experience much better. Google search reveals no information about recycling Samsung's water filter cartridge

It's annoying that customers are resulting into buying fake filters because of Samsungs lack of stock. Do not sell products that need replacement products if you can't keep up with supply. I should have looked into this before buying Samsung fridge.

Love our Family Hub but why can't recycle filter

We got our fridge going on five years now. Loved it, still love it though the doors are not closing as smoothly and need a little help getting shut, handles are starting to creak or fittings are a little loose, the deodorizer is a little less optimal. My main disappointment is in the sustainability of everyday use, namely the water filter. How does Samsung build an awesome overall product without considering the long term environmental effects of their disposal accessories ? I don't get why the water filter does not come with some type of recycling guidance, even if just for the hard outside plastic. I totally understand that the water filter is very particular in nature, but can't a solution be sought other than landfill ?
