Waste of money, Don’t buy.

RockeyJ61 — 1 out of 5 stars

What a SHOCKER … Don’t believe the measurements or how solid this cat tower appears in the photos. Waste of money, don’t buy. I received mine today and as soon as I received the box, I was initially a little confused as it wasn’t the size of the Cave section as you’d expect, much, much smaller. OK I thought, there must be a lot more pieces than I anticipated and I must have to put the cave together myself. Well, by the time I got everything out of the box I was shocked and in disbelief. Let’s start with the base of the entire tower. It is in two pieces, yes two pieces and the only thing that holds these two pieces together is the short pole that connect the lower bed to the top of the cave. As a result, it makes it extremely difficult to move the cave and also makes it unstable. Now for the Cave section, looks like it’s solid in the photos doesn’t it. Nope, it is made up of one fabric covered piece, the larger of the two base pieces, one unfinished chipboard piece that forms the top of the cave section, three small fabric covered posts which hold the base and top pieces together and which are hidden from view by the final piece of the cave. This part is simply a fabric bag with the curved opening in the shape of the cave with very thin elastic (think the stuff you use for your hair ties) at the base to hold it in place. This cover goes over the top and is held onto the base by the elastic and has to be put into place before you add any of the larger/wider poles. Now about those dimensions. The product description says that the top bed is 40 x 40 cm, the lower bed 38 x 38cm, the cave is 34.5 x 35 x (h) 26 cm, the base of the tower 55 x 35 cm (no mention of it being two pieces) and the overall height is 69cm. What I got was quite different. Both beds were 34 x 34cm, the Cave was close but only 25cm high and the overall height was 68cm. My cat is yet to use it but as he is a big cat, and the beds are significantly smaller than they are supposed to be I doubt very much he will use it at all. At the very least there should have been a bracket or two to connect the two base pieces together to make it sturdier, why it was in two pieces in the first place I can only guess it was to make the packaging smaller and therefore cheaper to send. I’d send it back only before I put it together, I’d already ripped the label off and thrown the box away to make it in time for the recycle bin collection.
