Mattress is comfortable. Didn't have bad chemical smell. Just a 'new' smell which disappeared after a few days standing while expanding. Had looked online at how to open vac seal as had to be done by single person, and was a bit concerned at what others had experienced. But had no problem at all. And cover was loose enough to grab and drag onto bed without breaking nails or fingers :)
