Big improvement on the RP

I've had it for several months, a great upgrade from the RP. Images seem better, faster frame rate is great and I love the animal tracking. 2 things missing that were on the RP. 1. A third Custom setting on the top dial. 2. The trash can icon can't be used to centre the focus like it did on the RP. As this button can't be used for anything when you are taking photos (only operates when you are reviewing images), why couldn't it be used for this, or even better be customised like so many other buttons.

The R8 is a 10/10 for me. I love it.

I've had my R8 for a few years now. It's my first full-frame camera, my first mirrorless and my first Canon, having made the switch from a Nikon DSLR. I did a lot of research before I made the purchase, and I am so happy with the R8. It might be considered an 'entry level' full frame mirrorless, but it's features and performance are exceptional. Super fast and accurate auto focus, beautiful resolution/picture quality and out of this world frame rate. I love that it's smaller than most full frame mirrorless cameras. I use prime lenses (35mm most of the time) so it makes for a very compact kit that's easy to carry or fit in a bag. Even though I have pretty large hands, it feels comfortable and secure to hold. The lack of in body image stabilisation is a trade off for the compact form, but I genuinely don't miss it. I don't often use slow shutter speeds, and when I do I use a tripod. Plus, a lot of the RF lenses have stabilisation anyway. The R8 is a 10/10 for me. I love it.
