My favourite grown up toy!

My R1 rewards me every time it comes out of its bag. Feel and looks great and it captures more than the eye can see. It’s fast and amazingly responsive and fists my grip perfectly. Image quality colour gamut and resolution is perfect for my wildlife photography, especially its low light performance. The autofocus never misses a beat and the combination of 24 fps is ideal and over the last couple of years I have never had any buffer issues. My main hobby is jumping whales of a moving boat, it’s perfect!

I purchased my R1 in May 2025 and it's the best camera I've used. I've been shooting with flagship gear for over 2 decades and this one just works for me. It’s lighter than the old 1DxII but still fits in the hand so well. The large viewfinder makes it easier to see the action and review the shot. The controls are easy to adjust. Like all mirrorless, it does chew through batteries. I’ll always grab my R1 in preference to my R3 or R5. The DSLR’s are now gathering dust.
