MYER Fashions on the Field
The last of the MYER Fashions on the Field competitions featured both the National Women's Racewear and Milliner Award competitions.
The morning started with the last of the daily women's racewear competition, with Shona Cowell from Ballarat proudly sporting the Crown Oaks Daily Winner sash. Shona's dress was created by friend, Jade Lawer, who is currently in Paris tapping into the designer world. The ivory tulle layered skirt with raw silk bodice was inspired by the femininity of what Ladies Oaks Day means to most women.
Shona lined up next to the AAMI Victoria Derby Day Winner, Sarah Schofield, and the Emirates Melbourne Cup Day Winner, Kirsty MacGillivray, to compete to become the MYER Fashions on the Field Victorian representative. Kirsty MacGillivray was awarded this honour after parading her winning outfit.
The exclusive invite-only Millinary award followed closely, and was won by Liza Stedman with a fabulous natural and gold straw creation starting with a diamond shaped base and outlandish wave feature. Liza said she is always inspired by art and sculpture, and that ruffles are in this season!
At 1:30pm it was time for the National MYER Fashions on the Field Women's Racewear competition, and six gorgeous girls paraded the catwalk representing the six states - NSW, QLD, TAS, WA, SA and VIC. Votes were collected by the expert panel of judges including MYER ambassador, Rebecca Twiggly, and the results were given by Carson Kressly and Rebecca Maddern. Western Australia's Rebecca Thompson came in as 2nd runners up, South Australia's Margeaux Carle came in as 1st runners up, and Victoria's representative, Kirsty MacGillivray, proudly and elegantly accepted the winning sash. Congratulations to all girls!
