Myer Christmas 2008

One of Melbourne’s most loved festive traditions continues for the 53rd time with the unveiling of the Myer Christmas windows for 2008. There will be a special evening opening to enable more families to enjoy the opening with a 6pm event on Friday 7th November.

More than one million visitors enjoy strolling along the Bourke Street mall to see the new theme every year. Dozens of specialized craftspeople and artisans have been assembling the windows for many months, and installation will take more than two weeks.

But there will be no hints – the theme is kept secret until the curtain is dropped on the windows for this year. Christmas window themes of previous years have included fairy tales, much loved Australian children’s stories, themes from ballet and opera and even an environmental message.

The Myer Christmas Windows are available for daily viewing between 7.30am and 1.00am through until January 4th, 2009. Everyone is invited to share in the Myer Christmas Parade. Catch an early glimpse of Santa before he settles into Santaland at Myer until Christmas Eve.
