MYER CHRISTMAS PARADE 2010 ANNOUNCED

Myer and Christmas go hand in hand and we’re pleased to announce that the Myer Christmas Parade will again be held this year, for the fifth time.
As Australia’s favourite gift-giving destination, Myer has been central in the establishment of some of Australia’s most-loved Christmas traditions, including the Myer Christmas Windows in 1956, and more recently, the Myer Christmas Parade.
When: Saturday 13 November 2010
Where: The parade is held in Melbourne annually, running down Bourke Street from Spring Street to the Bourke Street Mall.
Participants
The Parade combines an army of community groups and volunteers with some of Australia’s most loved children’s characters, entertainment acts, celebrities and brands in an effort to activate and drive visitation to the CBD to officially kick-start Melbourne’s Christmas celebrations. Eye-catching floats and entertainment ensure the streets of the CBD are filled with colour, celebration and Christmas spirit.
Community groups are involved throughout the parade in various ways. Most groups will be selected as part of the Myer Christmas Parade Community Engagement Program, others will be directly selected based on previous involvement. We are looking for 20 - 25 community groups to participate in the parade in 2010, or approximately 1500 participants.

The Myer Christmas Parade offers exceptional opportunities for businesses to align themselves with Melbourne’s largest free public Christmas event. The Myer Christmas Parade is attended by tens of thousands and watched on TV by hundreds of thousands. We are currently taking expressions of interest from businesses wishing to be involved.

HOW COMMUNITY GROUPS CAN GET INVOLVED
The parade marks the start of the Christmas period, as well as a celebration of all that is great about Melbourne. What better way to showcase your group or organisation than to join in and celebrate the coming festive season in this joyous annual gala event?
Who can participate?
In previous years we have had a broad range of groups from throughout Victoria participate in the parade. Among others, these include:
· Dance Groups· Cheerleading Groups
· Cultural Dance and Music Groups
· Sporting Organisations
· Service Groups [CFA, SES etc…]
· Charity Organisations
· Marching Bands
Expressions Of Interest
The Myer Christmas Parade is calling for expressions of interest from a wide range of community and cultural groups to be involved in Myer Christmas Parade 2010.
To participate in the parade, groups are required to complete an expression of interest form, which includes detailed information on the group and how it would add to the parade. Once all expressions of interest have been received, we then select the best groups from the pool to be part of the excitement.
