Autumn Winter Trends
Fashion is having a tactile moment. Looking through this issue of Emporium it's suddenly struck me how much texture there is in the new season.
From the feathers in our cover image (how sexy) and the faux fur collars (so chic) in our ladylike fashion feature to the extraordinary embellished Balmain jacket in our Trends Of The Season story (I want) and the studs on the Marc Jacobs leather boots in our fashion opener (how fierce), it seems that anything sensuous, spiky, laced or furry is the instant way to update your look.
This trend does go further into safer, more wearable territory; the Aztec influence in our Trend Update section is all about a softer, more colourful clash of textures and prints and our Weekend Style primer in Get The Look is all about playing with layers and textures for an effortlessly simple way to update your casual wardrobe.
In the Home department we are very proud to exclusively reveal designer Jayson Brunsdon's latest project: homewares. Our interior stylist Steve called me from the shoot raving about how beautiful they are – check them out in our story Inner Sanctum on page 132. Yes, there are touches of texture here, too, with cosy faux fur throws and soft velvet cushions. And celebrity chef Pete Evans shares an exclusive menu for Emporium readers, designed to eke out the very best of the late summer produce. Time to get ready for a new season. What will it be? Faux fur? Feathers? Spikes? Choose what makes you smile.
